How To Make A Print

Prints are an easy way to add a personal touch to your house. They can also make for great gifts! In this blog post, we will go over seven steps that will help you get started on making your own prints. These tips are perfect for beginners who want to try their hand at print making without spending a lot of money or time.

Seven Steps to Making a Print - Helpful Tips for Beginners

Step One

Find a photo that you want to use. This can be one of your favorite photos or something like the skyline of New York city. You will need at least an hour and a half for this step, but it is well worth your time!

Step Two

Gather supplies-a printer, inkjet paper (Photo Paper Matte), scissors, glue stick, ruler / straight edge, pencils in various sizes and colors (optional). It may seem daunting now but trust us it's not as bad as you think;)

Step Three

Print out the image with desired size onto matte photo paper using settings on your computer program. Make sure that there are no borders surrounding the picture because they will become part of the design.

Step Four

Cut out your image, leaving a border around it to create space for inkjet paper. Step Five: Glue the photo onto the matte paper and allow the glue to dry according to package instructions. This will take about five minutes or so but make sure you do not wait too long before moving on! The longer you wait, chances are that way more of this step will need correcting in later steps and we want to avoid that as much as possible;)

Step Six

Use a pencil / pen with an ultra-fine point (like 0.38 mm) and draw lines between all four sides of your picture, starting at one corner then going clockwise until reaching each other corner. Then draw a line from the other corner, again going clockwise. This will create two columns of triangles (one on each side). Now draw one more column in between the existing ones so you end up with three right next to each other. The height should be equal to that of your photo and it needs to touch all four corners at once as well!

Step Seven

Repeat step six for both sides, making sure they are symmetrical when finished. This is where I usually make corrections if there was any mistakes

Tips For How to Print

  • Limit the color palette to just two or three colors and avoid borders when possible,
  • Consider not only what will be visible on screen as you work but also how well they'll print out once final copies are made.
  • Some elements won't translate at smaller sizes than others-use high resolution / vector artwork in these instances so that everything comes together nicely during production time with no loss in quality!

Conclusion

The process of making a print is simple and can be done with just a few household items. All you need to do is place your paper on top of the ink-covered screen, then firmly press down on it for about 15 seconds. You'll see that the negative image will transfer onto your paper while leaving an empty space where no color was applied underneath it. When you look at these prints side by side, they have beautiful depth and texture as well as varying levels of contrast depending on how long or hard you pressed down when printing them out.
